Baseball Apple Snack

Baseball ApplesWho’s on first? Who knows! But I do know that these snacks are the perfect addition to your home plate for tonight’s World Series opener. They’re easy, quick and healthy — my three favorite words in the kitchen, if you haven’t gathered already.

First base: Easy. You probably have most of these ingredients at home already, just like yesterday’s Halloween Apple Mummies. {Can you tell I’m desperately trying to finish the last of our orchard haul?}. Plus, you don’t need a frosting bag to draw on the jelly. Just cut the tip off a plastic sandwich baggie and squeeze away.

Second base: Quick. These take just a couple of minutes to make. If your child goes from zero to hangry in 2.5 seconds like mine, this is big league. Bigly? 😜

Third base: Healthy. It’s tempting to make baseball cookies (a.k.a. the majority of baseball-themed food on Pinterest), but I’m trying to think of ways to make food fun without making food unhealthy. The apples, light cream cheese and strawberry jelly are a tasty and nutritious combo.

It’s a home run for both teams! Personally, my “Who to root for?” algorithm is all messed up, since it usually goes something like this:

  1. Root for husband’s team.
  2. Root for team who has won the least.
  3. Root for Chicago, where I lived for 10 years.

Since each team gets two votes here, I’m hanging out in limbo. Hey, at least this way, I can be happy no matter who wins. 😝 #worstfanever
